This 1906 lighthouse offers a splendid view of the
town and the sea. From the top of this cylindrical tower (more than 20-metres
high), observe the maritime traffic, the windmill park and the Chic-Chocs
Mountains. You will also see the equipment of a modern vessel wheelhouse: radar,
radio transmitter, vessel tracking system, weather station, etc. Please note
that the Tourist Welcome Bureau of the Matane region is located in the guard
house.
Schedule: Early June to mid-October. Guided tours from the end of June
to the end of August, Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Old general store which has been closed for over
twenty years. Listen to the story of the Longfellow shipwreck, which ran
aground nearby in May 1902. Here you will discover a typical setting of the
period, a convenience store, a snack bar with traditional dishes and a terrace
with a view of the sea.

The reconstituted Matane trading post, the first on
the south shore of the Saint Lawrence, lets visitors discover the events that
took place here at the beginning of the 17th century. Watch the presentation on
the history of trapping and life in the forest up to the present day.

The Bon-Pasteur church contains a very impressive collection of artwork. For that matter, the church has the largest number of sculptures made by Jacques Bourgault of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli: 19 wooden sculptures, one of which depicts a pregnant Virgin Mary. Moreover, see the works done by Olivier Ferland, a master glassmaker: 14 stained-glass windows, 7 of which depict the founders of Quebec’s religious history, and a symbolic stained-glass Stations of the Cross. You can also admire three murals of the evangelic story created by Carlo in 1952, and two paintings by the reputed Basque painter.

This church is the third church of Baie-des-Sables. It was built in 1940 over the structure of the second church, which was destroyed by fire. This church, a prestigious temple because of its design and decoration, can be recognized at first glance by its massive steeple.

Inaugurated in 2001, the Saint-Luc church is the most recent church of the diocese. Its simple and modern style does not tarnish the appearance or nobility of the site. The stained-glass windows designed and created by glassmaker Manon Poitras are of incredible artistic value.

The Saint-Ulric church, whose neoclassical style construction goes back to 1878, is one of the most architecturally interesting churches in Eastern Quebec. Detailed woodworkings, arches and alcoves stand out because of their delicate design. Stations of the Cross by Simone Hudon, which dates back to 1939. On July 4th, 2004, the Église de Saint-Ulric (church) was consecrated by Monsignor Bertrand Blanchet.
