A place where one feels like… a salmon in the water!

Saint-René, through the heart of which runs the Matane River, is renowned for salmon fishing. Several waterways meet up in this area, such as the Petite rivière Matane and the Ruisseau Gagnon. The two covered bridges, The Jean-Chassé bridge, built in 1945 and the Francois-Gagnon bridge, built in 1942 are the village’s architectural gems and must be seen.

Furthermore, by taking Route 195 southward, you will reach the Réserve faunique de Matane (Matane Wildlife Reserve). The Wildlife Reserve offers an aboudance of nature, outdoor and mild adventure activities.
