From September 30 to October 2 - New exhibition on the history of the Matane police and firefighters at the Matane Historical and Genealogical Society (SGHM)
Friday, September 30, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (family day with the presence of the 1948 fire truck) and Sunday, October 2, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Several photographs from the Victor-Sirois and La Voix gaspésienne collections, as well as various objects, will allow you to discover the highlights of this epic story, such as the hiring of Luc Durette, the first full-time police officer from 1909 to 1916, or the acquisition by the municipality, in 1919, of a pump, hoses, ladders and fire extinguishers to fight fires. You can also take a self-portrait next to an old fire truck from 1948 or next to the door of the first Matane jail.
The exhibition will be on display until December.
