From the end of June to the end of October 2023, the Matane Historical and Genealogical Society will present a new photo exhibition on the theme of the Matanie businesses that have contributed to the socio-economic development of the territory. The theme is part of the activities related to the 110th anniversary of the Chambre de commerce et de l'industrie de La Matanie. The exhibition will be done through the installation of approximately 130 photos/banners that will be installed on the railing of the Promenade des Capitaines. The Historical Society will also be offering three guided tours during the summer, in late June, mid-July and mid-August. The topics covered will be on the economic evolution of La Matanie and will add to the additional information found in the captions and descriptions of each photo.
The Société d'histoire et de généalogie de Matane will be offering a free walking tour of Matane's economic history (only in French). The activity will be offered three times; on July 8, July 22 and August 12, 2023, on the Promenade des Capitaines (boardwalk). Reserve your place by calling the SHGM at 418-562-9766. Each tour will be followed by a beer and shrimp tasting. Thanks to La Fabrique and Poissonnerie Matanaise for their contribution! In case of bad weather, the activity will be postponed to the following day.
