The Grand Sacrifilm Short Film Festival was born to promote emerging amateur filmmakers from Matane while offering a stimulating creating environment. It allows participants to experiment with genres and techniques as well as highlight their talent and earn a chance to win prizes valued in the field. The event includes conferences and workshops where the population can learn about the different realities of cinema and interact with local resources, talents and key players, already working in the field. The festival adds to Matane’s cultural scene and tries to bring together, with entertainment, people from different generations during the Halloween festivities.
Le Brasier and its founders Jonathan Massé and Josée Dumas are in charge of the event. Their non-profit organization’s main goal is to create and promote cultural events occurring in the Matanie area and allowing citizens to participate actively.
