Projet La Ruche
Bed & Breakfast - Restaurant - Agrotourism experience
Projet La Ruche is a small and diversified family farm. Well known for its beekeeping production, they are now also involved in diversified market gardening, laying hens, pork, beef and pastured lamb in addition to forestry production.
The Inn is an ecological building with a passive solar design conceptualized by ALTE-coop. The materials used for its construction are healthy, local and in harmony with the environment where the building is located. The vast majority of the wood used in the construction of the building is harvested from Projet La Ruche's property in Baie-des-Sables, and is used in a way that respects the regeneration of the environment. The building is a highly significant carbon sink. The walls are all insulated and soundproofed with hemp matting. The large windows to the south, the thermal mass of the slab and the waterproofing of the building make it a very efficient and autonomous residence in terms of heating. A glazed greenhouse is attached to the south side of the building. This portion of the building has the dual function of maintaining a comfortable temperature in the hostel and ensuring year-round vegetable production.
