The Coastal Trail offers a privileged access point for those eager to explore a mesmerizing natural setting. This unmaintained route provides a variety of experiences, with some sections traversing beaches while others follow along striking cliffs. The tides constantly reshape the landscape, creating a dynamic and ever-changing environment. At low tide, marine organisms that would otherwise remain submerged become visible.

The trail stretches across the municipalities of Sainte-Félicité and Grosses-Roches. The coastline is deeply embedded in the local identity, as maritime transport and fishing have long played a central role in the region’s way of life.

Length: 14 km (one way). Arrange a vehicle at the other end of the trail or plan for carpooling.
Difficulty: Intermediate to difficult.

Trailheads and Access Points

  • Sainte-Félicité: Access via Saint-Jean Street, then Bélanger Street, through the municipal beach at Parc Isabelle Boulay. Some hikers start at the municipal rest stop (west of the village) or take the staircase behind the church.
  • Grosses-Roches: Access near Café du Havre, close to the municipal wharf, on Rue de la Mer.

Safety Guidelines

  1. Check the tide schedule before setting out on your hike.
  2. Wear appropriate footwear! Rocks can be slippery due to seaweed and ocean spray. Some streams along the way may also get your boots wet.
  3. Be prepared! Bring water, snacks, a hat, a windbreaker, and any other necessary gear.
  4. Know your limits. This is an unmaintained trail with challenging sections.
  5. Leave no trace! Keep the environment clean by carrying out everything you bring in.
  6. Swimming is discouraged! Water temperatures hover around 4°C, and strong currents can carry you offshore.
  7. Bonfires on the shore are prohibited unless you have a permit from the municipality.
  8. Respect wildlife. Do not feed or disturb animals along the trail—you may encounter birds or small mammals. Observation only!
